History

Jim’s OK Tire began as Bob’s OK Tire in 1967. After Jim’s father, Bob, was discharged from the army in 1959, he began working in the tire industry in his hometown of Geneva, NE. A year later, his employer, another employee, and Bob bought a tire store in Central City. Bob married his wife Kay and they moved to Central City to manage the tire store there.

In 1967, Bob was ready to break out on his own. He found a building in Franklin that was the right price to open his own tire business. In March of 1967, Bob moved to Franklin to get his store up and going while Kay stayed in Geneva with family. After 6 months, the business was doing well and Kay moved to Franklin where they raised their 3 kids- Steve, Jim and Lisa.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Bob’s OK Tire, Bob decided to tear down the old building and put up a new one with bigger doors and better functioning work areas. In March 1992, they held a Grand opening, celebrating the 25th anniversary and the new building.

In January 2001, Bob decided to retire from the tire business and sold the business to Jim and Colette, and it became Jim’s OK Tire. For a few years it was business as usual- quality service with quality product. Sadly, in December 2005, OK Tire lost its founder when Bob passed away.

Jim’s OK Tire, Inc continued to grow until it employed 7 employees and 2 service trucks. A far cry from the one employee it started out with. Fifty years after its beginning, Jim’s OK Tire decided to grow again and in March 2017 purchased Mr. Tire in Minden from C.P.I.; thus, doubling its size and employees. Jim’s OK Tire’s motto is “Service is Our Best Product”. We strive to offer a quality product with excellent service.
